The Hidden Symptoms of Dehydration
Dehydration occurs when your body isn’t consuming enough water to function properly. Considering majority of us don’t actually feel thirsty until we’re already dehydrated, it’s important to detect the signs of dehydration early.
Health experts tell us we should be drinking at least 2L (half a gallon) of water a day to keep our bodies properly hydrated – that’s one glass every two hours.
Water is our lifeblood. Keeping your body hydrated is the simplest and most effective step towards creating a healthier and happier life.
Dehydration can be the culprit for headaches, poor concentration, irritability, lack of energy and fatigue, muscle cramps, dry skin, bad breath and even food cravings – especially for sweets! Next time you experience any of these symptoms, best grab yourself a glass of H20.
In addition to detecting dehydration symptoms, there are a couple of quick tests to tell if your body crying out for water. Pinch the skin on the back of your hand. If it doesn’t return to normal in the blink of an eye, this could be an indicator you need to up your intake. Also, next time you make a trip to the toilet, check on the colour of your pee! Healthy urine should be clear (not cloudy) and very light/pale yellow.
Water is our lifeblood. Keeping your body hydrated is the simplest and most effective step towards creating a healthier and happier life. Cheers to that!
